During the late 1990’s short term missionaries Andrew Kelly and Steve Taliaferro came to Ukraine multiple times each year to minister to the children in orphanages in the Donetsk region of Ukraine.  As a result, Jeremiah’s Hope was founded to expand on their ministry and to reach more children for Jesus!

Jeremiah’s Hope has evangelistic outreach programs to orphanages in Mariupol, Ivankiv and Ugligorsk.  In each location, our ministry takes shape in different ways and is based on finances and man power.  We desire for each of these children to come into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and understand that the only way for them to see that is to experience relationships with Christians.

Ministry avenues in the orphanages include:
Humanitarian Aid Distribution
Weekly Bible Studies
Quarterly Birthday Celebrations
Monthly Evangelistic Outreach (games, crafts, Bible Story, & snack)

Future goal: to continue these activities and possibly expand, either with more activities in the same orphanages, or develop relationships in new orphanages where these programs could be replicated.

Adopt an Orphanage

Adopt an Orphanage” is one of the main programs we hope to use in order to build relationships with the children before they leave the orphanages, as well as supply aid to the orphanages in general.

Through this program a church, Bible class, care group, or some other such group will “adopt” a specific orphanage and take on this orphanage as their project.  We are asking such groups of Christians who decide to “adopt an orphanage” to commit to the following:

• Send small groups of people at least once or twice per year to visit the children at “their” orphanage and do activities such as conducting a Christian summer camp or VBS, delivering Christmas gifts, etc.
• Send Christmas gifts for the children at “their” orphanage through our annual “Christmas for Kids” gift collection.
• Provide $2,400 per year ($200 per month) for the purchase of school supplies and a birthday gift for each child during the year.  We buy here in Ukraine the kind of school notebooks the children use, as well as pens, and present them to these orphanages at the beginning of each school semester.  We also hope to begin conducting a quarterly birthday celebration at these orphanages in which each child who has a birthday in that quarter will receive a small gift bag with basic hygiene supplies.
